When I was a kid, I didn’t have a choice. My family had a small suitcase for my carry-on luggage, and it was the only one we had. But I always wanted a bigger bag. As an adult, I still don’t have a choice. We have a small suitcase for our carry-on, and we’re stuck with it. But that doesn’t have to be the case. My next trip was to San Francisco, so I was hoping that it would fit in my suitcase. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the airport, my carry-on didn't fit in my suitcase and I had to pay for an additional suitcase and even then it was still a bit too large to fit into my bag.
In order to prevent this issue from happening again, here are some tips on how you can turn your existing carry-on into smart luggage.
1. Purchase a hard-shell suitcase
It is important to purchase a hard-shell suitcase so that it can protect your belongings when you travel. Hard-shell suitcases are usually more durable than soft-sided suitcases. It has to be easy to pack and has to be able to withstand a variety of weather conditions.
2. Get a carry-on case
Most airlines offer carry-on cases that fit in the overhead compartments of planes. These cases can fit in your checked luggage but you will need to pay a fee for them.
3. Pack light
If you are going to be flying often, it is recommended that you try to avoid carrying heavy things in your luggage.
4. Use TSA-approved packing methods
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) offers information on packing your luggage for travel. For example, you should avoid packing liquids, gels, aerosols, knives, sharp objects, and other items in your carry-on.
5. Don't pack anything you can't take off easily
Before you travel, think about what you can carry in your carry-on luggage. This will make your life easier when you arrive at the airport because you won't have to take everything out of your bag.
6. Travel light
When you travel, you should only pack the items that you need for the duration of your trip. You don't want to be caught out when you arrive at your destination and realize that you have forgotten something.
7. Put everything in labeled bags
It is very easy to forget things when you travel. However, by putting things in labeled bags, you can keep track of what you have and what you don't have.
8. Use reusable bags
Reusable bags allow you to reduce the number of trash bags you use. In addition, you can bring home the same bag multiple times, which makes it convenient.
9. Don't be afraid to ask for help
If you have a carry-on that doesn't fit in your suitcase, you can ask an airline attendant or someone else for assistance.
